When Wegovy is used in the EU
According to the EMA, Wegovy is indicated for adults with an initial BMI of at least 30 kg/m², or 27 to under 30 kg/m² when at least one weight-related comorbidity is present.
Wegovy versus Ozempic
Both products contain semaglutide, but their authorised uses are different. Wegovy is authorised for weight management, while Ozempic is authorised in the EU for insufficiently controlled type 2 diabetes.
Wegovy versus Mounjaro
Wegovy acts on the GLP-1 receptor. Mounjaro acts on GIP and GLP-1 receptors. The most suitable option depends on the individual clinical situation.
